The tracker uses release order as its primary sequence - the order the films were written and intended to be watched. There are three deliberate adjustments from pure release order, each explained on the Watch Order Notes page. None of them spoil anything; each one improves the viewing experience.
Required vs. optional ratings are based on whether a title has confirmed cast, plot, or character connections to Avengers: Doomsday. If a character from a given film or show appears in Doomsday, or if a plot thread from that title connects to Doomsday's premise, it's marked required. If neither applies, it's optional.
The tracker is updated as Marvel confirms new connections - cast announcements, trailer reveals, official plot details. The most recent update added VisionQuest (October 2026 premiere) to the required list following Marvel's confirmation of its connection to the Doomsday story.
